Why is Destination Marketing so important?
Think about how often visitors find out about Mid Wales and decide they want to visit. Often, we hear from accommodation providers who say their business comes from booking.com and other similar websites. But to use these websites, visitors need to know what town or village they're looking to stay in first.
That's where MWT comes in. We not only list members' information on our websites, we also have thousands of pages promoting walking routes, towns/villages, scenic places, picnic spots, hills, mountains, and events... just to name a few.
Visitors staying in accommodation will want to know what there is to do nearby, what events are on, where they can eat out, go for a walk, etc. People visiting an attraction or event may need accommodation or travel information, etc. We're all interconnected.
Without continued investment in destination marketing that promotes the whole region, we're at risk of losing out to the competition. We want to encourage repeat visits but we also want to reach out to first time visitors too. That's why MWT Cymru is so important - we're the only organisation that promotes the Mid & West Coast Wales region. Our websites generate over 2 million users and 15.8 million page views per annum (2019).

Supporting Tourism in Mid Wales
Collectively, our voice is stronger. We have 600+ members in Wales from all sectors of the industry including accommodation, attractions & activities, event organisers, retail, food & drink, national organisations and specialist suppliers, who help us to champion the tourism sector in Mid Wales.
We provide membership support and we undertake destination marketing campaigns to put Mid Wales on the map.
For MWT, a thriving visitor economy means a place where people want to live, work and invest. It's about inward investment, skilled jobs, better infrastructure and creating an environment where the next generation can stay and prosper.
By joining MWT Cymru you'll become part of the leading tourism organisation in Mid Wales. Supporting the work MWT does independently of government ensures that we all work together for the benefit of our industry. MWT represents the tourism business community on the Wales Tourism Alliance, Cross Party Group for Tourism, Mid Wales Regional Forum and other groups. This ensures our voice is continuously heard and we're protecting our industry in a way we can only do collectively.
MWT Cymru is a not for profit organisation, established in 1991 and owned by our tourism members. We are the only regional destination marketing organisation for Mid & West Coast Wales - Mid Wales' counties are; Powys, Ceredigion and Meirionnydd (Southern Snowdonia).
